Arthur Vichot bagged a much needed victory for Team FDJ-BigMat at the stage 5 of the Criterium du Dauphine 2012
A victory was long overdue for Arthur Vichot of Team Francaise des Jeux, and the cyclist delivered his best performance at a perfect venue.
The French sprinted his way passed the finish line during the stage 5 of the Criterium du Dauphine and restricted the race favourites.
He completed the 186.5 kilometre chase to Rumilly in a quickest time of 4 hours, 42 minutes and 17 seconds and occupied the top podium spot.
Vichot make full use of the home turf and pleased his fans by registering his first win of the 2012 season.
Egoi Martinez of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi fell 26 second short and had to settle for the second spot with Dmitriy Fofonov of Team Astana Pro and Remy Di Gregorio of Team Cofidis holding the third and the fourth positions.
Cayetano José Sarmiento Tunarrosa of Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Alberto Losada Alguacil of Team Katusha and Daniel Navarro of Team Saxo Bank occupied the fifth, the sixth and the seventh positions respectively.
Arthur is having a quite year and his only commendable performance is the second place finish at the Les Boucles du Sud Ardeche 2012.
He started riding with the Amateur side, Team CR4C Roanne in 2008 and stayed with the team throughout 2009 season.
The 23-year-old accepted an offer from the professional side, Team Francaise des Jeux in 2010 and is continuing his third consecutive season with the team.
Vichot also topped the point’s category with a total number of 15 points to his credit while Egoi Martinez, Dmitriy Fofonov, Remy Di Gregorio and Cayetano José Sarmiento Tunarrosa secured the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective
order.
Blel Kadri of Team AG2R La Mondiale wins the first mountain of the race while Cayetano José Sarmiento Tunarrosa succeeded during the second and the third climbs.
Arthur Vichot, Cayetano José Sarmiento Tunarrosa, Tony Gallopin, Dominik Nerz and Yoann Bagot are the top five young riders during the fifth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine 2012.
There is no change in the overall classifications of the race as Bradley Wiggins leads the category with a healthy lead of 38 second over Tony Martin.
Michael Rogers, Cadel Evans and Wilco Kelderman are holding the third, the fourth and the fifth positions.
