  1. Fill a bowl with water and add the juice of one lemon. Cut off the stem of the artichoke near the base of the leaves (but don't cut into the leaves on the bottom), then cut off the top third of the flower. Gently pull apart the leaves and use a spoon to scoop out the choke (the fuzzy stuff). Use kitchen scissors to cut off the tips of the outer leaves on the bottom half of the artichoke. Then steam it. (Time depends on the weight and size.)

When you're done, you peel the leaves off one at a time, dip them if you want (melted butter and lemon are great, vinaigrettes are nice... you pick!). Remember, you grab the leaf by the top end, dip the bottom end in the sauce, then scrape off the flesh. You can't eat the whole leaf. Just scrape off the tender part. Once you get to the middle, you can eat the whole heart.

    And tell Dad thanks!

  2. Take off any leaves that have sharp spines( if they're big artichokes they're usually a few at the bottom).

Take breadcrumbs and season with granulated garlic, salt, Romano( or Parmigiano cheese) and parsley and mix well by hand.

Stuff the breading inside all the leaves top and bottom( pack it in well).

Take a pot that they'll stand up good in ( you may have to even out the bottom to make them straight).

They must be tightly bunched in the pot.

Put some water in the pot( do not go over the bottom leaves) and cover 3/4s of the way with a lid and steam them for about 45 mins  for smaller to 1hour for larger or until the leaves get somewhat soft.

( before you start to cook them drizzle them with some extra virgin olive oil).

When their done, you firmer leaves should be just be cleaned of the breading by just peeling them off and scraping the breading off with you teeth.( and the leaves not eaten because their to tough) as you get into the center you can eat the whole leaf.

  3. you steam it for about an hour

then put it on a plate

and make some dressing dip (i reccomend a vinagerette)

and dip each leaf in the dip

    and enjoy!

  4. really good to doi a spinach and artichoke cheese dip that you can dip tortilla chips in

  5. Boil them in water with a little lemon juice for about thirty minutes. Pull off the leaves and use your teeth to scrape the tender part of the leaves off. The heart is on the bottom under the choke. You can eat the heart, but not the choke.
