I am writing an article about Robert Dudly and Queen elizabeth the first. How can I start it? What could be the title? "On Elizabeth's succession, Dudley was appointed Master of the Horse. Rumours about their relationship were rife. In 1560, Dudley's wife died. She was found near the base of a flight of stairs and the assumption was that she had fallen down them."

  1. Title: The Secret Romance of Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley.

Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester was the long standing favourite of Elizabeth I of England. They were good childhood friends as he was raised very closely to the royals. He was her official protector through life and remained so til the end of his days. Elizabeth was devastated at the loss of her old friend and companion and, reputedly, locked herself in her apartment for hours, if not days. She treasured the letter that he had sent her only days before his death, and wrote on it "His Last letter." She put it in her treasure box, and it was still there when she died 15 years later. It was believed that she read this letter and called out his name just before she breathed her last.

  2. Sounds ok to me.  How long is it going to be?  You could start saying that some contemporaries believed Elizabeth and Robert were born on the same day (although he was probably a little older).  It was a lifelong friendship.

Here are some sites to help you:

Titles: I'm no good at titles!  "Best of Friends"; "Bess and Robin"?
