  1. Now that my body is used to these sleeping disorders, the slightest bit of stress seems to cause them. This used to be due to my stupid parents – now it’s mainly thanks to my boyfriend.

We had a conversation in the evening, however none of us got to properly express their feelings on his latest way of kicking my feelings once across the football pitch and back again. In fact, I ended up bluer than before … and that caused me a truly sleepless night. I was tired, of course; falling asleep was the problem. I just couldn’t, this feeling of sadness was too present all night through.

School was absolutely disastrous. I felt awfully tired after not sleeping properly for basically the whole week, a little outbreak of emotion during the night had caused a nasty headache, and I was feeling too down to be my normal self. Captain Barbarossa described it very diplomatically, “I noticed you’re a little out of it. Really, it just looks like you’re tired, and only those who know you will actually notice.” For a change, I was pretty glad the teachers weren’t doing any serious lessons. In fact, maths and Latin were the only demanding subjects; maths was dreadful because the headache was getting worse by the minute, Latin was horrid because I couldn’t concentrate on what we were doing, namely research on Greek doctors. Captain Barbarossa finally read the stuff out to me – not that that helped.

I was never so glad to get home, toss my school stuff into the corner, have something for lunch and lie down for a few moments.

There was one thing I knew: the headache and this feeling of tiredness would be gone soon, it was the horrible sadness I had to do something about. I had texted my darling about three times without receiving an answer, so naturally it didn’t arrive this afternoon, either. Fine. I got through this before. Ignoring the headache, I started doing research for a prestigious German contest for students interested in natural sciences, and during this I stumbled upon the “Biologie-Olympiade” (I’m sure my English readership can translate this without much help). It consists of a selection procedure for the start, a test which must be corrected by a biology teacher before the beginning of September and sent to the commissary for your federal state, and then whoever qualifies gets to go further and further. The questions are pretty demanding and I’m pretty sure I won’t get much further than perhaps into the first or second round, but the good thing about this contest is that participation in each round is properly honoured. Yay, yet another entry for my CV, which is far too long already with its three pages! (Seriously, I wonder whether I’ll have enough to say to fill a book at the end of my school career.)
