  1. I had an art teacher that made me draw things like keys. I hated the idea at first, but I actually liked it as I was drawing them. I had a cute frog thing attached to the key chain too so it wasn't as boring. My favorite thing to draw is cartoon characters. You may look at it and think it is simple, but they can actually be some what complicated to draw.

  2. Try fantasy art - or putting ordinary objects that aren't usually seen together in the frame.

For example - fantasy can be a human with butterfly wings - or you could look up surrealist artists such as Magritte or Salvador Dali for inspiration.

Your bowl of fruit could become a face etc...

Use your imagination as well as just what you see in front of you - then you will be calling upon your true artistic abilities.

But don't fall into the Tracy Ermin trap of becoming a lazy artist and putting your well slept in bed on display to pass off as art - lazy artists who cannot be bothered to work are always found out eventually! lol

  3. There is a school of thought that believes a visual artist should work at the craft just like a dancer does, every day. Some painters put in a scheduled number of  hours of work. You could push yourself to do the same; take any paper, set a timer, and just let your hand start moving.

Complete the sequence within the time frame and then stop, put it away until another time. Collect a few of these, maybe five or six. Then pull them out and lay them on the floor. See what you've got and just maybe it will spark an idea into the beginning of a piece.
