  1. When it kept me up late at night, or woke me to paint or draw, or occupied all my spare time.  In school I drew during lectures.  At home I was always in my room drawing or painting.  I visit art museums whenever I have the chance.  I have over 300 art books.  My walls look like a gallery, between the art of others I have collected and my own creations.

I find myself analyzing everything by color or value and I have my partner doing the same thing now, even though she is not an artist.  I am addicted to color . . . getting out of an art store without buying more paints, pastels, or paper is nearly impossible.  I look for the artistic merit in fine films, and revel in the discovery of a new artist, a a new masterpiece, or a new technique for me to try.

I think it started in grade school when instead of games, candy, or music, all my allowance, baby-sitting money and birthday gift money was spent on art supplies.

  2. In daycare (ugh I don't even no how younge I was THEN) when we made those hand-print-turkey-thingys for thanksgiving ^_^

  3. I'm not sure if you'd consider me an artist, but I'm at least better than most people at drawing, but I've been drawing for quite some time, but it took me until last year to really realize I loved it. I'm fourteen now, so, about thirteen years of age is when I realized it.

  4. in grade school I drew a lot and could copy anything.  I was always the one to make posters, maps, etc.  It wasn't until I was adult that I could take art lessons, and it just exploded from there.  I still love drawing and painting, and teach classes now.

  5. Probably before I could read. I was fascinated with picture books and tried to draw and color what I saw. A lot of kids do that but I had almost an obsession which has stayed with me to this day. It is a fun life to see the world around you as art. You see everything from close by to distant and put them together as art.

  6. Good question. I have been drawing or painting since I was in kindergarten,my teacher still has a drawing I did of my father's ship. I am now 55 and still at it. I have taught myself the dying art of lettering and gilding (application of 23k gold leaf) and still take the occasional yacht transom or old fire engine.

  7. When I studied abroad last semester in France and went to this art school. Really opened my eyes and made me realise what it is in art that actually means something to me. Took a while, I gotta admit. Been mading art for years but took me until now to find my real passion in it. Better late than never I suppose, at least I found it before I graduated from college ;)

  8. I was just born with a love for drawing.  I never had to realize anything.:-)  I didn't care if I was an good; I just liked art.  When did I begin to think that I was actually any good?  Well, probably when the quality of my drawings surpassed that of Steve's from Blue's Clues. (I greatly admired his work when I was three.)^_^
