  1. rolf harris (h)

  2. John Singer Sargent can fill a museum wing with huge portraits of the elite of society. . .

Most Renaissance artists kept food on the table painting portraits of kings, popes, etc.

  3. The list dates back generations, but here are some of the ones which stand out in my mind. Many artists paint royalty, but these ones were commissioned to paint them.

Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy - The first black artist to be commissioned.

    Lucien Freud

    Michael Noakes

Rolf Harris - Yes, it's true.:-)

Peter Howson - One of my personal favourite artists of all time.

  4. Lord Snowdon being married to a royal got most of the commissions.

  5. Frank Beresford.

  6. http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/page4797....

    this website explains a lot

  7. Victoria, Regina et Imperiatrix was painted by lots of artists.

    John Gilbert

    Henry C Selous

    Franz Xaver Winterhalter

    Edwin Landseer

    Francis Grant

    George Hayter

If I could be fagged to find my handbook on Victorian art I could find lots more. She also has statues in just about every British city, and lots in the Empire

Victoria herself (Gawd Bless'er) painted some pictures of the Royal Household

Anthony Van Dyck was court painter to Charles 1 -painted "Equestrian portrait of Charles 1" which is in the National Gallery

Hans Holbein's portrait of Henry VIII is iconic http://www.icons.org.uk/theicons/collect...

If you put in a king or Queen's name and "Portrait" into Google Images, or Yahoo Images I am sure you could find several galleries full of pictures. Maybe a trawl of the National Portrait Gallery website as well.
