I am going to Aruba (Hyatt) on Saturday. Do I need pants? Should I bring a sweatshirt? What should I wear to the beach? How tan will I get? Is the Hyatt the best choice of hotels? Please answer with details and anything else you think I need to know, then tell me!

P.S- this is my first time going

  1. Don't bring a sweatshirt. Pants, no. To the beach, just a bathing suit. Tanning, you could use lotion. Hyatt is not the best. Marriott is beautiful (and the Dutch breakfast is out of this world).

Also, always ask the natives to speak Dutch. They love to and it will make your trip a lot more meaningful than just seeing "Americanized" Aruba. (BRING BACK GUILDERS FOR HOME AS THEY DON'T USE THEM IN HOLLAND ANY MORE)!

  2. ur so lucky haha

it hot in Aruba maybe just bring pants incase

but im pretty sure u wont be needing them

wear a bathingsuit to the beach

basically in any tropical place you alway get a good tan unless your the kind of person were it hard to get a tan and just get red. But you should deff put sunblock on cause you'll get burnt i know when i went to the bahamas i got really tan and a bad sun burn also.

    have funn:]

  3. You won't need slacks, the temps will be in the high 80's. Bring shorts, tops, skirts, sundresses, several bathing suits, cover ups. Bring a hat and don't forget those sun glasses. Bring tons of sunscreen and use it everytime you come out of the water, reapply. There is a constant trade wind and be careful with wind burn if you are fair.

Wear a bathing suit, hat and cover up to the beach. Or a pair of shorts and top over the bathing suit.

You are staying at a fantastic resort, clean, great location, beautiful beach and great staff.

Have a wonderful trip and bring your camera, you will be treated to the best sunsets.)

  4. Just got back from five nights at the Hyatt and we had a fantastic vacation. We stayed at wonderful Hyatt properties in Hawaii for our honeymoon last year, so we decided to once again stay at a Hyatt for our one year anniversary trip. Overall, we had a great vacation and can't wait to return!

    CHECK IN

This was just about the only disappointing part of our entire trip. Basically, don't expect your room to be ready any earlier than 4 PM - we had to change in the locker room (where they had run out of lockers because so many people were roomless) and hang out for over two hours before our room was ready - seems to be a common problem.

However, we were upgraded from garden view to ocean view, so it was worth the wait. Also, we mentioned that we were there to celebrate our anniversary and that night, we received a visit from room service with a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate dipped starwberries with a card from the hotel - very classy touch.

    ROOMS

Our room was extremely comfortable and had a modern decor - in addition to the plush bed was a nice day bed/chair that was comfy for lounging on. The bathroom was spacious and included a terrific shower with a non-traditional shower head that made for a very relaxing shower as well as multiple drawers and a hair dryer. The products that the hotel uses are also very nice. We were in a room in the 440s and did hear a lot of music every night (starting around 6ish and lasting till about midnight - we were over the lobby bar, but the noise didn't seem to be coming from there- couldn't really pinpoint it) We weren't really bothered by it, but keep that in mind if you feel it might be a problem.

    GROUNDS

Gorgeous - reminded us a lot of the Hyatt Kauai - beautiful trees, colorful plantings and a wonderful pool with a waterslide were some of the highlights. Additionally, there was lots of wildlife including all kinds of birds and swans. The beach was also beautiful and the staff would help you locate chairs by the pool or beach if you needed assistance. The lobby and bars were very modern with a lounge feel to them - lots of couches, etc. There were plenty of bars, including a swimup bar and friendly staff happy to make your drink or just give you a cup of ice water. Only complaint was that the waiter service was somewhat limited - not a ton of waiters coming around by the pool or beach.

    FOOD

Definitely try Ruinas for breakfast - we had the Sunday Champagne brunch buffet which is not to be missed - delicious and plentiful food and unlimited mimosas. We had the regular buffet most other mornings and were very happy with it - definitely sit outside or at least by a window to take in the gorgeous view - a wonderfully relaxing way to start the morning. The waitstaff here was very friendly and acccomodating. The only other restaurant that we tried at the hotel was Palms, where we had a casual (but expensive) lunch. The tuna wrap was particularly good and its a very relaxing setting (right on the beach)

Restaurants off property that we loved included Papiamento, Madame Jeanette and El Gaucho - definitely have the concierge make reservations at the restauarants you want when you arrive to ensure that you get to try them - some of the restaurants can apparently be hard to get into. Salt and Pepper, which is right across the street, is a good casual, inexpensive option as well.

All in all, we had a great vacation in paradise and I would recommend the Hyatt to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation!

  5. I used to go to Aruba all the time... I've been to the Hyatt before (although I never stayed there...), it's really nice! I used to stay at the Holiday Inn all the time, which is like right next door...

The weather this time of year is sooo nice! The rainy season is over and it should be clear blue skies! The sun is really hot down there and there isn't much protecting you when you are out on the beach, so make sure you wear sunblock! As for how dark, it just depends on if you tan or burn easily... If you are planning on being at the beach like 24/7 then I'd say you'll probably get pretty dark! You probably won't need pants, but you might want to being a pair of jeans in case you decide to go out one night or something. Also I'd bring a light sweater/sweatshirt because it can sometimes get a little chilly at night and it's usually pretty cool n the hotels... If you can you should try to do some shopping, you can get some great deals in town, especially on jewelry and perfume. Also, try to do some water sports, paragliding over the ocean is amazing, you usually see dolphins and turtles and stuff...  Oh yeah, try to go down to the california lighthouse... It's on the very tip of the island and it's on a cliff and the views are gorgeous! Oh, and go snorkeling too! They bring you out to a sunken ship and you see some amazing colored fish! They have an all day type thing, you go out on the boat, they give you lunch, you hang in the water, it's a real good time!

Well, have fun! It's a great little island. Everyone is extremely friendly!

Oh yeah, take lots of pictures!!!!!!!!
