Arum believes Pacquiao is being ‘mature’ – Boxing News
While most fans and promoters feel annoyed with Manny Pacquiao’s inability to make a decision regarding his upcoming opponent, Top Rank’s Bob Arum believes the Filipino is being mature by thinking through it.
It has been more than two months since the Filipino fight king stepped in the ring against Timothy Bradley. He is scheduled to fight on December, previously November 10, but has not yet decided his opponent. Pacquiao has two opponents to select from; unbeaten
American fighter Timothy Bradley and Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez.
“Manny is being mature in his decision. He’s taking his time, really thinking about it. Before, it was spur of the moment. Now he’s considering all of it,” said Arum in his recent interview.
It should be noted here that previously Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto’s name was in the list too. However, Cotto found an opponent to lock horns with on December 1 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, leaving Pacquiao with just two options now.
I would’ve said we were going one way last night, and another way this morning. It’s between those two,” Arum added.
Arum has previously reported that he wants the Filipino to go head to head with Marquez, in a fourth episode of their rivalry. However, back in July, Pacquiao revealed that he is not bothered for another bout with Marquez, as he has already fought him thrice,
winning two matches.
While Pacquiao is more inclined towards a rematch against Bradley to get his WBO title back, Arum believes the match will not interest fans. According to Arum, a fourth Pacquiao-Marquez match would be most lucrative.
“Marquez is the more lucrative fight, and the more difficult fight,” he insisted once again.
For now, there is no news of whom Pacquiao wants to fight. He has promised his fans that he will bring the WBO title back home and so, there are chances of him choosing a fight against Bradley. However, considering the fact that this fight would set grounds
for Pacquiao to negotiate with Mayweather, the Pac-man is probably looking at a win more than the title.
