Arumun expected to prevail in Bet365 Handicap Chase
Arumun has the best chance of winning the Bet365 Handicap Chase at Sedgefield in England on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. A cash prize of £1,819 has been set for the winner of the class-5 event.
The going will be good in the 2 mile 110 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 20:30 GMT. A total of 12 runners will be seen in action and their names are as follows: Arumun, Ginger´s Lad, Strathaird, Ice Image, Whatshallwedo, Behindcloseddoors, Frith, Kit Carson, Royal And Ancient, The Black Lion, Lago Verde and Rince Donn.
Looking at the experience and current form of Arumun, it appears that no one will be able to match him in the race. He has got a very good stamina, which will help him attract a lot of bets in his favour.
The 11-year-old gelding has taken part in 50 races until now, which shows that he has experienced different conditions and will not be under pressure. Overall, he has managed to win six events in his career, but his record in chase events is a touch better compared to that.
Arumun has won five chase events out of 39 events and has also secured the runner up position on a couple of times. In addition to that, he has also finished third on five occasions, which proves that he has the ability to challenge the front runners.
The Michael Scudamore’s trainee will be ridden by Liam Heard, who has earned 10 victories in such events. He needs to be a lot more consistent though, as his strike rate is on the lower side, which is not a positive sign for a jockey.
Despite Arumun’s good record and experience, the bookies believe that Whatshallwedo will walk away with a victory at Sedgefield. He does not have a good strike rate, winning just a couple of times out of 13 attempts.
However, the seven-year-old gelding has done well in chase events, as he managed to win one of them out of four outings. Moreover, he has also secured the third spot on the same number of times, which shows that he likes running in this format.
The real competition will be between Arumun and Whatshallwedo, but there are chances that Ginger´s Lad, Strathaird and Ice Image might also make an impression in the race.
