Arundhati Pantawane determined to put up good show in upcoming Vietnam Open Grand Prix
India’s young and talented shuttler Arundhati Pantawane is determined to put up good show and live up to the expectations in the upcoming Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012, which is set to take place from August 21-26 in Vietnam.
The spirited Arundhati, who has been positioned at number 71 in Women’s Singles world placements, has been putting in extra efforts to elevate her level of play and is quite satisfied with her training.
The 22-year-old Arundhati, who has been staying away from the international arena for the last few months, is looking forward to make her presence felt at Vietnam Open that offers $50,000 as prize money.
Many top shuttlers will compete in Vietnam Open to earn glory and improve the world ranking. However, Arundhati is confident to prove her worth.
While talking about her prospects in the tournament, Arundhati said that she will compete in an international tournament after a small gap and is looking forward to grab good results.
She stated, “Vietnam Open is my first tournament after a long gap. After India Open, the only competitive tournament I played was Maharashtra Badminton League in Pune. But training wise, I am pretty satisfied. I have really worked hard on my game in the
last few months. I am hopeful of a good show in Vietnam.”
While talking about her ranking, she said that it is low because she did not play many tournaments in the current year.
She added, “I know my ranking hasn't improved this year because I played lesser number of tournaments. It will surely improve after 3-4 tournaments. My target is to break into top-50 as soon as possible.”
In the Women’s Singles first round at Vietnam Open, Arundhati is set to meet her higher ranked opponent Belaetrix Manuputi of Indonesia who is currently placed at number 40 in the world.
If the Indian shuttler passes her first round test, she is expected to take on Thailand’s World Number 34 player Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the next stage which will be quarter-final of the event.
India’s national coach Pullela Gopichand is confident that she will regain her form and will live up to the expectations in the upcoming tournaments.
