Arundhati Pantawane determined to rise from the dust in Yonex Polish International
The young Indian female shuttler Arundhati Pantawane is back on the court after a three-month absence due to injury and she is determined to rise from the dust in the 36th edition of Yonex Polish International, starting from March 22, 2012.
Arundhati, who is currently ranked 61 after falling from 51st position in world rankings, failed to get a spot in Uber Cup preliminaries and a complete series of European events due to her eye injury as now she is set to get back with a bang in
the Polish Open.
The Nagpur girl is hoping to revive her old rhythm when she earned the honour to be in the semi-finals of the event last year and she also took her Taby Club to the semi-finals of Swedish Premier Badminton League in recent past.
She said, "After my eye injury, I was very disappointed as I had to miss several important tournaments. But I got my confidence back thanks to Taby Club's experience."
The female singles expert Arundhati, who is a trainee of Pullela Gopichand Academy, will compete against relatively weak contestant in the first round but real challenge awaits her in the second round where she will lock horns with top seeded Japanese girl
Ai Goto.
The National Games gold medallist Arundhati is in high spirits to surpass the Japanese shuttler Goto, who stunned World Number five Saina Nehwal in India Open last year, as she has been watching her rival’s game very closely.
She said, "It will be difficult to beat Goto but not impossible. I had beaten top-25 players few times last year and if I play to my full potential there is a chance for an upset."
This encounter will be a tough trial of her mental and physical strength and she will have to stretch hard if she wants to register her presence in the arena.
The 22-year-old shuttler has been preparing in the worst of conditions and now she hopes for the best in the Polish Open.
Meanwhile, the Men’s singles shuttler, K. Nandagopal, who also plays for Taby Club like Arundhati, is the other player representing India in the event and he will be looking to clear the qualifying round to secure a berth in the main round.
