India’s upcoming player, Arundhati Pantawane, continued her inspiring run and reached into Women’s Singles main round after defeating her local challenger, Xiaoyu Liang, in qualifying round of Li Ning Singapore Open 2013 in Singapore, on Tuesday, June 18.
The in-form Arundhati, who remained impressive in the recent tournaments at international stage, played at her best speed and remained successful in showing exit to her Singaporean challenger by taking just 30 minutes.
The Indian shuttler started her journey in a confident fashion and remained successful in wrapping up a superb victory against Liang in straight games with a commanding 21-14 and 21-16 score on the board.
On the contrary, Liang failed to take advantage of her home ground and home crowd as she was helpless against the power play of her Indian challenger. She could not play to her maximum potential and bowed down without creating a strong impact.
The impressive Arundhati played with wonderful speed and control from the starting rallies of first game. She took the bird early and made her opponent work hard in all areas of the court.
Until the one-minute break in the opening set, it was the incredible Indian shuttler who took a big lead.
After the interval, Arundhati continued her superior run leaving no room for her Singaporean opponent and took the first game with a seven-point margin of 21-14.
In the second set of this qualifying round battle, Liang tried to show her brilliance by increasing her speed but she failed to find good angles to place her shots. She remained struggling to take the bird early.
Meanwhile, the lanky Arundhati continued putting up spectacular show of flawless badminton. She did not miss any chance of executing powerful smashes in all areas and easily set up a huge lead on the scoreboard until one-minute break.
After the interval, the in-form Arundhati increased her speed at net and also played more attacking badminton from the back of court. She dominated the pace in ending points and easily won the second set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
