Arundhati Pantawane topples Ying Suet Tse in the qualifying round of India Open Super Series 2011
India’s Arundhati Pantawane has defeated Ying Suet Tse of Hong Kong, in the Women’s Singles qualifying round of the India Open Super Series 2011, in India today on April 26.
The Indian took 46 minutes to defeat Ying Suet in a thrilling three-set match.
The start of the match was absolutely brilliant as both shuttlers were playing aggressively by hitting powerful smashes and strong pushes. The score progressed closely and nobody could manage a good lead at any stage in the opening part of the set. At the interval, Pantawane was leading the set by 11-10.
After the break, both shuttlers remained toe-to-toe by playing superb badminton. The score was 18-18, where the Indian proved his worth by dominating the set in the end and won it with a 21-19 margin, in just 15 minutes.
Stung by the loss of the opening set, Ying Suet bounced back in the second game by playing flawless badminton. She dictated the pace of the game in the second set and spared no chance for Pantawane to win the set. The shuttler from Hong Kong consumed only 14 minutes to grab the second set with a 21-14 score on the board.
In the final set of the match, Pantawane played an attacking game from the opening points and remained successful in getting a 5-point lead of 6-1. However, Ying Suet matched the speed of the Indian and narrowed the gap by scoring four consecutive points by reaching 5-6. The score was 9-9, when the Indian grabbed two points in a row to make it an 11-9 lead at the interval.
Ying Suet played positively after the interval and reduced the difference by reaching 14-15. The crowd could not have asked for a better match as the young Indian was playing a wonderful game. The score entered into the most crucial stage of the match where both shuttlers reached 20-20. Pantawane scored two points in a row and won the final set with a 22-20 margin, in 17 minutes. The ending score of this three-set battle was, 21-19, 14-21 and 22-20.
