Arunima Sinha may not be a national level player – Volleyball news
When all seemed to be going well for the injured Indian player, Arunima Sinha, things have taken a new and unexpected turn.
Recent claims have been made by the Government Railway Police that the story told by Arunima about her being a national level player may not be true.
Arunima had been the victim of a robbery incident on a train during which she was allegedly pushed off the train and as a result, lost her leg.
In response, the government offered the injured player some compensation but it was rejected on the basis of being too less. The media and the press highlighted the insensitivity of the government in this matter and Arunima was given considerable financial
compensation as well as treatment at one of the finest hospitals. Not only this, the player was also offered the promise of a governmental job, which she had requested. All this was done mainly on the grounds of taking care of an injured national level volleyball
player. However, Arunima’s claim is being tested by the authorities for authenticity.
According to the Sports Authority of India, the government job that Arunima has asked for will only be given to her if it is proven that she is in fact a national level player.
In order to verify this, an official had been sent by the railway to the house of Arunima for the purpose of information gathering.
Based on the information that the railway employee was able to gather, it shows that Arunima took part in the Golden Jubilee National School Games. These were held in the year 2002 at Sidhi. The sport in which Arunima participated was football. This is proven
by the certificate that was obtained from the house of Arunima. Not only that, another certificate reveals that Arunima also took part in an inter-university competition on behalf of the Ram Manohar Lohia University. This happened in the year 2006 and the
sport that Arunima participated in was volleyball.
Despite the fact that these certificates have been found, it cannot be determined if Arunima is a national level player based on them. To be a national level player, a person has to play at the national level while representing a state team.
For school level, a person becomes a national level player if she or he is selected from the school to be a part of one team consisting of members from various schools.
