Arunima Sinha’s condition stabilises after the shift to AIIMS – Volleyball news
Arunima Sinha, a national level Indian volleyball player was subject to a tragic incident recently in which she had to suffer the loss of a leg but she is now stable and admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
“She has been admitted to the orthopaedic department and is stable. Her haemoglobin level had fallen drastically and she was given blood and plasma,” M.C. Misra, AIIMS Trauma Centre head said.
Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated even after the amputation and she had to be shifted to AIMS in order to undergo better treatment and proper care. The reason of her worsening condition was the fact that an infection had started developing in her
leg that had been amputated.
Arunima, had been the victim of a robbery while she was travelling on a train. Allegedly, the volleyball player was pushed off the train by robbers who were after her chain. As she fell down on the other tracks, Arunima got hit by another train that resulted
in the loss of one leg and multiple fractures on the other.
The player was making the journey from Lucknow to Delhi in order to appear for a test related to a government job. Before she could make it however, she fell victim to the tragic incident that has put her future into jeopardy.
From that point on, Arunima has been suffering various traumas. First of these of a compensation offer of Rs. 25,000 by the government which an outraged Arunima rejected. She made a demand for a government job that would help her to become independent and
not be a burden on anyone in society.
Stimulated by the outcry of the press and media towards the insensitive treatment being offered to the national player, the government changed stance and offered financial aid of rupees one lacs. Not only that, Arunima was also given the consolation that
the government will do all its best to find her a job as well as a prosthetic leg.
The recent shift to AIIMS is also part of this endeavour. Let’s hope she recovers completely soon.
