Arvind Bhat secures his berth in round-of-16 at Canada Open 2013 – Badminton news
India’s Arvind Bhat continued his lofty performance and reached into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after defeating Jakob Kryczka, a local player, in the second round encounter at Yonex Canada Open 2013 on Thursday, July 18, in Canada.
The in-form Bhat, who is the 14th seed in this championship, was very aggressive in his play and he took just 20 minutes to establish his worth on court and ousted his rival in a comprehensive fashion.
Indian player was on a different level while playing in the second round battle. He did not let his rival create any trouble and easily bagged a lopsided victory in straight games with a stunning 21-10 and 21-10 score on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Jakob was unable to match the speed and skills of his opponent. He could not cope up with the fast tempo of rallies and ultimately bowed down without getting a respectable total.
Bhat took over the control in the starting rallies of the first game. He paced up the tempo and used powerful smashes coupled with impressive net play that enabled him to set up a comfortable lead.
Jakob, on the contrary, tried to play aggressively but failed to take the bird in a timely fashion. He remained struggling hard to find a good rhythm. Until the one-minute interval, the Canadian was far behind on the score board.
After the break, Bhat continued showing up his impressive craft as he did not miss any chance to extend his lead. His rich variety of strokes and incredible speed were the major factors that earned him the first game with a one-sided score of 21-10.
The second game with not much different as Bhat remained on the driving seat from the opening points. He was comfortable in playing fast rallies and took a wonderful lead until the mid-game interval.
Bhat remained focused and consistent after the break as be played positive and aggressive game. He did not face any trouble at any stage in the ending half and won the second set with a remarkable 21-10 score on the board.
