As Texas Rangers plan to acquire new pitcher, Alexi Ogando ready to adjust – MLB News
The Texas Rangers are seriously considering signing another pitcher for the 2012 rotation, said a report on Thursday, January 26. Boasting one of the strongest pitching line-ups in the American League, the Rangers do not seem satiated as far as bringing
more pitchers in the bullpen.
The new option under consideration, as the report stated, is signing Roy Oswalt, the free-agent pitcher. If the Rangers indeed go ahead with this newly formed plan, this will, undeniably, be another big name in the already illustrious list of eminent pitchers.
Yu Darvish was one of the recent inductees in the Rangers. The $60 million deal apparently seemed to be the last for the Rangers’ shopping for pitchers for this season. The general manager of the team, Jon Daniels, had earlier expressed that he did not anticipate
any more moves, but dismissing it completely was not the option either.
"I said after we signed Yu Darvish that I didn't anticipate any more major moves, and I still don't," Daniels said Thursday after returning from the Dominican Republic. "But we might tweak some things in the bullpen."
Roy Oswalt’s arrival in the team may once again affect the rotation. It was previously Alexi Ogando who had to be one of the starters of the team. However, with Yu Darvish now a part of the team, coming as the starting pitcher, Ogando has been moved in the
bullpen.
With a change of such considerable proportions, Alexi Ogando still looks forward to execute whatever task is assigned to him. That is something that the team deeply appreciates, especially Jon Daniels.
"The guy has unbelievable makeup," Daniels said. "He's the ultimate team player. He wants to start, but he also wants to do what's best for the team."
With 13 wins the last season, Ogando had achieved some exciting wins for the team. Having a 3.51 ERA, he was being tipped as the regular starter for 2012. Nonetheless, with changes that have recently been done in the Texas Rangers, the American League All-Star
Alexi Ogando, is determined to serve the team to the best of his ability.
