I know I can buy alcohol there and drink it as a 19 year old, and I know that it's illegal to bring the alcohol back into the US, but how easy is it to do it anyway? Do customs check thoroughly ever, or can I just put it in the trunk and go about my business?

  1. I wouldn't try it. Customs used to be pretty good on not checking your car. The two times my husband went he got searched. The most recent time, they made his friend take out the speakers in his car. So I wouldn't chance it. Just go get someone to buy your alcohol.

  2. WHY  would you want to buy booze in Canada to take to the USA example 1 24 of premium beer in canada is $ 38.40 that very same box of beer in usa will cost $ 17.00 quite a difference whiskey vodka rum all are the same difference in price and its the very same beer or liquor and can be bought at any usa border store and if you get caught with more than 1 24 or 1 bottle you will be in major trouble with customs and they will refuse you future travel accross the border. and yes the canadain customs have the same list of bad folks as the americans do and they do know who you are. BEWARE  i live 500 feet from the usa and go there almost every day and i get car searched every time i go

  3. In Canada you can buy alcohol at 19

But if you can't in your jurisdiction in the U.S.A,. Don't try

If you get caught, they will flag you and you will be checked everytime you go back to U.S.A.

You might like to keep the gov't off your back by being anonimous and under the radar.

You choose , Booze is cheaper in the U.S.

  4. it will be the US customs that you will deal with, if your caught could mean deep sh*t for you

  5. Consider the issue this way - as a 19 year old US citizen you will be a prime suspect for bringing alcohol back to the US.  The border officials are very much aware that the legal drinking age in most of Canada is 19 while it is 21 in the US, and they are also aware that being able to drink and buy alcohol legally is an attraction for young Americans visiting Canada, and they will be on the lookout for these same young Americans trying to smuggle alcohol back.  My advice would be "Don't try it!"

  6. Why, you just never know what customs people will do. I got very thoroughly searched a couple of years ago. The US customs guy got it into his head that I was living in my van, don't know why, though I was prepared to do a little camping but I'm in my 50s and owned two homes at the time.

  7. Come to Australia! Only have to be 18!

  8. It used to be pretty easy, but I would think they check thoroughly these days. I wouldn't try it, they'll probably search the trunk due to your age.

  9. Don't try and play stupid with customs, you will not get away with it and then who is the stupid one?

  10. They will look, they will find it, it will be confiscated and you will be fined.

  11. Alcohol is far cheaper in the US, because there isn't the same tax on it.

Unless you are the age of majority, you are not allowed to bring in any alcohol.

They will ask at the border, and if they ask to look in the trunk the booze will get dumped out and you will get fined.
