We're planning to get married this year, but want to do it as cheaply and easy as possible, in a registry office with only 2 witnesses. I still want to look nice but don't know what to wear? Something not too expensive but nice and bride like. thanks

  1. Maybe try a bridesmaids dress, someone i worked with wore one and it looked lovely. she had a mushroom coloured one and with some accessories you can really glam it up!!!

  2. have a look at a site called light in the box.

They are a chinese warehouse, my best friend got the most stunning wedding dress for £42!! Made to order, she also got jewellery and underwear, and with delivery she still only spent about £85, bit of a bargain by any ones standards.

  3. Just get a lovely dress that you could probably wear again.....or see if you can hire one.

If you have a bouquet and your hair nicely done it will look lovely without having to spend £100's on a dress.

Monsoon also do lovely dresses which can be pricey but they do have big sales....so do Coast etc...check out debenhams.

  4. If it's nice weather, wear a white or floral sundress (or whatever color you choose!). It can be long or short, whichever you like. If it's chilly weather, wear a dress with a white fuzzy sweater or wrap, or wear a long flowy skirt or maxi dress... Whatever you wear, make sure it's suited to your own personal style.

Congratulations, enjoy being married soon! :-)

  5. A white or light colored sundress with a flower behind the ear...something feminine.  You can also go to Wal-Mart in the fabric/craft department and buy a pretty hair peice (with pearls, etc.) and dress up your hair...wear a pretty white wrist corsage....

  6. I would wear a white or ivory (or pastel) suit.  I would also wear a corsage or carry a small bouquet.  And I would definitely get a boutonniere for groom to wear.

  7. You can wear a very simple white cocktail dress, with your hair down and some white accents. I think that would be gorgeous and inexpensive.

  8. Have you seen the s*x and the City movie yet?  Well, if you have, I think the suit that Carrie gets married in at the end is a great look for a simple, registry office wedding- just a classic, white suit with a pretty knee-length skirt.  You could dress it up with maybe a beautiful corsage on the lapel.  (I tried to find a pic of the suit Carrie wore to show you, but can you believe I couldn't find one???)

I'm personally opting to get married in an off-white sundress that I found on the clearance rack.  It's very hippie-dippy and fits my wedding (and my personality) perfectly!  Just look for something that befits your personal style, and remember- all kinds of great dresses come in white, so you don't have to go to a bride-specific shop.  (In fact, you don't even have to wear white if you don't want.)

  9. I would not wear a pant or skirt suit because it's too high powered office employee looking.  Find a white dress on sale at a quality department store or a shop that specializes in formal attire.  Something elegant.  With the summer season ending, it's the perfect time to shop for white.  Do not hesitate because the selection will diminish.  You will know it's right when you see it.  Keep it romantic not business.

  10. You can try www.shellyleppertdesigns.com. You can rent weding gowns at a great price and they will also work with you on price.

  11. Have you looked at David's Bridal?  They have a line of dresses that aren't very expensive.  You can also try Target.  Here are the links:

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns...

    http://www.target.com/Bridal-Women/b?nod...

  12. Go somewhere like Debenhams, you will get a lovely dress for around £100, then you can buy cheap shoes and bag (but not so cheap they're tacky!!!) in any high street store.

    Enjoy your big day!

  13. buy a good ivory suit, something you can wear again for work.  or get a dress you can wear again.

  14. Wear a really nice white (or cream) suit. You can also wear a nice hat with a veil over it.

  15. you can get a beautiful dress on eBay.  This way, you can have all the traditional wedding pics but at a fraction of the cost.

  16. I would wear a tight cream pencil skirt thats high waisted, a three quater sleeed jacket to match the skirt and a silky top of your fa colour with some killer s**y heels. beautiful flowers will make your outfit that bit extra special. congrats

  17. This is a great site, i got all my bridesmaid/flowergirl dresses from here and they are very reliable and reasonably priced.

    www.jewlzbridal.co.uk

Other than that, try and get an 'off the peg' or ex-display dress.

Debenhams/BHS both do lovely dresses too.  Good Luck!

  18. I'd just find a semi-formal dress I really loved and wear that. Look at department stores and find something you know you can't live without that looks elegant and flattering!

    Good luck!

  19. I'm getting married in Dec of this year. My dress costed 19.27 with tax. I went to a Cato's store. I dont know if you have them were you live. try catofashions.com to see if you have any around you. You cant order online. If you dont have them. Try a discount clothing store. Look at target, sears clearence, jcpenny's clearence. Sometimes you can find really good deals there. If you live in a bigger city try going to the good will, or a used clothing store. Sometimes you can find wedding dresses there. I dont know your budget but, http://www.lightinthebox.com has some really pretty, yet inexpensive wedding dresses.

  20. I would go for a long white dress as I am not into suits or that kind of thing.

It doesn't have to be a brides dress but something that you would wear to a dinner and dance kind of thing.

Decide on your colour (including white), and I would wear flowers in my hair a small posy can be picked from your garden or a friends to carry, its what I did and that way I was able to pick which ones I wanted.

Good luck I am sure you will look gorgeous, just remember that a smile looks beautiful no matter what you are wearing.

  21. i hired a dress for £150 from a local bridal shop.oxfam and other charity shops have some really gorgeous wedding dresses but you have to ask them as they usually keep them out the back of the shop to avoid getting dirty marks on them.its worth a try.good luck finding something.you might even get a cheap tiara too.

  22. YES - I agree - a nice lightweight off white or light tan suit or dress. I would go to Nordstroms, only because the sales staff there really do know their departments, designers, and are very good at helping you find exactly what you want.  Yes, they can be pricey, but when I am not sure what I want but I know I have to find something, Nordstroms is the store I always go to.

Trust me, I HATE clothes shopping, HATE spending retail price for anything, and can not stand the "attitude" I get from the other customers when they see me, BUT, the sales staff is STELLAR. For me to actually walk in to a large department store, ask for help, then spend a ton on money, really says something, trust me.

  23. Littlewoods catalogue have some lovely wedding dresses.... they are obviously cheaper than the bridal shop ones & u can pay it up!

    http://www.littlewoods.com/rf/navigation...

Theres one as cheap as £79

  24. I would suggest something like one of these (they all come in white or ivory, of course =D):

    http://www.gojane.com/23907.html

    http://www.gojane.com/12048.html

    http://www.gojane.com/14979.html

All are very inexpensive and perfect for a quick wedding. There are some more selections on this website if you don't like these (www.gojane.com under the "formals" link).

    Good luck!

  25. go into your favourite high street shop and pick a gorgeous dress and if it isn't special enough then you add some sequins or beads or flowers.

i would shop at zara, coast, jigsaw, monsoon. they have lovely dresses ranging from £40 to £800

or if you are good at sewing you could buy a pattern and your very own fabric and make it that could cost you a minimum of £10 but ffabulousresults mccalls.com have lovely patterns. or get  a friend to do it as a wedding present if the are good at sewing.

good luck x have a happy life with your soon to be husband.

  26. i wore a white tank top and one of them long hippie skirts also in white. a pair of white flip flops, a slightly larger brown belt and some cute earrings. i looked pretty cute and cost me a total of $40 bucks from macy's.

  27. If you go to a place like Macy's or Lord and Taylor that has lots of fancy dresses, you may be able to find something there.  If you want an actual wedding dress, David's Bridal usually has a decent selection of dresses for $99 (which is pretty good considering that most bridesmaid's dresses and increasingly PROM dresses cost more than that) that you can buy off the rack and just need to get altered.  You don't need to get a veil; when you get your bouquet from the florist, ask if they can make you a matching floral hairpiece.

  28. if you live near a littlewoods clearance store, you should take a look. they have some very pretty classy dresses for £30! and real bridal gowns for £90! it all depends on the day you go on luck!

have a go though, my friend got loads of cocktail dresses from there and there are some perfect for the occasion.

  31. *ADD* I just realized that some of those dresses did not come in the colors mentioned. Sorry.

Look for "regular" white/ivory dresses at your favorite stores, or some other color if you want. Look at bridesmiads gowns too, many come in light colors and they cost less than bridal gowns. You could easily find something for under $200. I don't know what your taste or budget is, so just look around. JC Penney and Macys would probably have something.Target even has some white dresses you may like. JC Penney and Target even have sever inexpensive wedding gowns under $150, though that may be more formal than you would like.

I found some examples for you. There are more at these stores, and like I said look at your favorite stores!
