As a camp counselor I feel that a lot of parents do not enforce rules? ?

Hi,

this question is not in any way an attack,I'm just curious.

For the last two years I have been a camp counselor, I have noticed that some of the kids do not understand boundaries and rules or choose to ignore them.

I would like some input from parents: Is this because kids are kids or do some( Mind you only some) parents just not enforce rules and boundaries?

  1. Heres an opinion of a frequent summer camper:

I'd bet alot of money most of  those kids are acting up because it's camp and they think they don't have to pay attention to the rules. Especially if they have alot of young counselors [between 21-30] they'll see them more as friends and less of an authority figure.

If a kid is acting up a whole lot, talk to them about it. But do it when your alone & theres not a bunch of other kids around.

  2. i feel the same way. i will take my kids to an event, and there will be lunatic kids running around every where like there parents let them do what ever they want

  3. Perhaps they are taking advantage of the fact that their parents are not around to set any boundaries. A lot of people are reluctant to discipline other peoples children.

  4. No, i don't think it's the parents fault. I think it's the children being rebellious.

  5. You know it is not only the parents but the schools are also part of this issue and it is even a bigger issue it is a social problem in the U.S. Too much freedom, too much confidence, too much individualism, too much rights, we would all need boundaries... finding the balance.
