  1. I brought back flavoured coffeemate, some flavours they don't sell here, and I had no problem.  It was new, unopened container.   You can't just bring produce or raw things  because of the risk of bringing in pathogens, insects, parasites, fungii, plant diseases which could harm Canadian agriculture.

  2. I go shopping all the time in NY state for food.  Waaaaaay cheaper than here.  (Montreal)    You can bring back almost any thing, except fruits and vegetables, booze and cigarettes.  (Although I have brought fruits back from time to time, but they could confiscate them at the border I think)

There are some restrictions on how many turkeys you could bring over (per person in your car, if your planning on buying that,) and its two.  But you can bring back as much other meat as you like, and all dairy products are so cheap so bring a cooler with you because butter - eggs - milk -cheese are dirt cheap.      Try shopping at Aldi's if you find one, and PC foods.

When you re-enter Canada you will have to show them your grocery bills so save them.  Sometimes I have had to pay duty on the miscellaneous stuff Ive bought, but even that is not worth quibbling about -  I think last time I was there I had spent $400 on stuff other than groceries, and I only had to pay $14.00 duty.  What I do is separate all my bills into "food" and  "non food" and just hand them to the border people to look at, sometimes they just wave me through, other times they make me go inside to pay the duty, but it's never much, so I'm always honest.

It' s really a good "fun" day out, so enjoy!!
