  1. Most likely no,

Many of my friends own bikes though - however it depends on your own campus

My campus (Penn State - University Park) is not too big, but there are no decent parking spots, my friends do not own or do not use their cars, I on the other hand own a car - but because I live off campus (I am an 18 year old sophomore)

Again, it depends on your campus!

  2. yes you will need one to drive places

  3. No you will not, use public transportation! Makes things more interesting. Also, some colleges and universities will not even let freshman have a car! Plus if you in the dorms, there will be plenty of things to do! Also parking spots are very expensive, the only reason I was allowed a car is because I lived off campus in an apartment, a parking spot a mile away from my classes cost me 1200$ a year!

  4. You'll probably want a car, but there are two thoughts against this.  A car will allow you the freedom to go where and when you want meaning it'll be a great distraction when you should be studying.  AND, the first week or so, the parking lots will be extremely crowded and finding a parking space before class will be next to impossible.  Lots of traffic tickets for parking violations handed out in the first few weeks of every semester.

  5. I can tell you from experience....No, you won't.

  6. I would be nice to have a car, but I'm sure the campus have bus routes to places you may want to go, or if its in a college town. Other than that if you would like to have a quick get away or a minor vacation... it will come in handy.

  7. It depends on you.  Where are you going to college?  Do you plan on leaving campus often?  If you want to leave campus every weekend you might want to get your own car, but if you're not going to leave much you don't need one.  Also if say you're in the middle of New York City at NYU you don't need one but if you're in the middle of nowhere you'd want one so you can get around places.
