  1. Yes

    I'm a physiatrist

In my second year of residency. work fifty-60 hours a week. A LOT less than most.

    Its a cool job,

  2. As a kid with a doctor dad, my answer is no! You are always on-call even if you are not officially on duty. You are always thinking about your patients even when you are on a vacation. Your hospital staff will always know where to find you. Your friends and family are always asking medical questions even in the middle of part. You can never turn off your phone even if you are in a funeral. People are always expecting free samples from you and the money is not worth the stress you have!

But still, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor and I've always been proud of him!

  3. Nope, but I;ve opted to work more hours than I do.

I work 5 12 hour shifts, closely followed by working 1 weekend in 3, and working 3 12 hour night 'on-call' shifts.

Then again, it is far above what is required as a minimum, but I enjoy it, and I enjoy the fact that the hospital never falls asleep.

All in all, I do have time for myself, like now for instance, which I mainly spend on watching things I recorded on Sky+ and surfing the internet, but when my fiance gets back (she's also a doctor, although doing charity work in Tanzania [I finished mine]) and then my free time will be spent planning a wedding.

All in all, nowhere near enough time, but you make friends in the hospital, and there's always at least one friend working the same time as you are.
