i have been a schumacher fan since he first joined ferrari and have been a fan since then and kimi i think was a very good candidate to come along and continue the ferrari legacy, however it puzzles me to be hearing that FA might have signed an offer for ferrari for 2010. i personally think it is a very idiotic move(unless i was to learn that kimi doesnt have the desire to continue racing) but i would like to see kubica bec i think he can run along w/ hamilton with a bit more experience, or some people said vettel possibly, what do you think?

  1. Montezemolo has already said that there's no way that Alonso will drive for them. Plus putting him in with Kimi or Massa is a really bad idea. Two contenders for the championship within the same team always spells trouble. And we know what happens when Alonso is outdone by his team mate

  2. I always thought Alonso would be the one to take over from Schumacher, long before Alonso won a world championship... Now I would like to see Raikkonen extend his contract with Ferrari after 2009 and continue his partnership with Massa.

  3. i think alonso is a good racer..

he'll do good in ferrari ...

  4. I heard the rumour

If Ferrari want fireworks and the prospect of two VERY good drivers pushing each other to a point of say Suzuka 89 or Suzuka 90 then bring it on. God knows it would be good to FINALLY see the only world champions on the grid kick each others @ss in equal equipment.

    I'm all for it.

  5. As Ive said several times to these Fernando questions,

2 lead drivers in a team rarely work together,

    Alonso- Hamilton,

    Raikkonen- Montoya,

    Prost- Mansel,

    Senna- Prost,

    Piquet- Mansel,

    G. Villneuve- Pirioni,

when these two championship contenders have been in one team they have weakened the team, by knocking points off each other and hitting each other sometimes on purpose.

Personally I think the Ferrari driver line up is great as it is at the moment, Alonso buggered his chance up at a top team last year and deserves his Renault.

  6. I would like to see Alonso go to Ferrari, and i am sure he will at some point, though it depends on many things like, the contract status at Ferrari, maybe Kimi will retire or maybe he will re-sign and that also goes for Massa. in F1 anything can happen,we just need to wait and see what happens..Kubica has a bright future though and he deserves a chance in the Ferrari too,and as for Vettel i think he needs more experience before getting into Ferrari..

  7. I think what Alonso has signed is something along the line of "if I'm still interested and if my current/future contract with other teams allows me to go to Ferrari, then I will go to Ferrari if you still want me then" I'm pretty sure Kubica and Vettel have been asked to sign something similar.

I have the feeling that Kimi will retire and do snowmobil racing or whatever after his current contract expires. I like Kimi, and I want him to stay, but I think it's not his style to hang around just to win a few more races or a couple of championships. He has nothing to prove, he has already made his mark.

Having said that, I'm somewhat puzzled and disappointed with Kimi's performances so far, despite winning the title last year. Perhaps he is just a tiny little bit overrated - I had expected him to absolutely dominate Massa in just about every race, but he's not doing that, is he?

Alonso-Massa combo seems OK. Or maybe Alonso-Vettel even. I rate Alonso highly. Despite his reputation and antics, I think there is a very very cool head on those Spanish shoulders. People talk about how Kimi is ice cool. Alonso I think is just as cool....and he's hungrier and is more involved in car development. He will be an asset for Maranello.

  8. yep

  9. As a Ferrari (Schumacher) fan and and Alonso fan, i really couldn't care less about this deal.  If drivers contracts are said to be 'flexible' then a preliminary thing like this means even less.  Two years is a long way away and nobody really knows what the state of things will be by then.

  10. WTH is that rumor...? I'd rather vote for Sutil in the Ferrari than Alonso.

  11. I'm a Raikkonen fan and if Alonso do joins Ferrari it would be a disaster for Ferrari driver chemistry would be an issue if Alonso want to win he should leave Renault and join BMW. BMW has a balanced car but doesn't have a driver that would put them on top.

  12. I heard it on the Monaco race coverage as well.

As a Ferrari fan, I respectfully disagree, wizz.  I have been saying for a year that I think Kimi is vastly overrated.  In this year's Ferrari, he has thrown away pts in two out of six races (crazy driving in Australia and errors galore in Monaco).

In the hands of Schumacher or Prost, with this year's Ferrari, the championship would be virtually over.  Raikkonen now trails by 3 pts.  He will probably throw more pts away before long.

I think Alonso is far better at testing and developing cars, as well setup.  If he is joining in 2010, it likely mean Raikkonen will retire after next season
