is it possible to live in Germany without becoming a German citizen - a sort of Special Resident or Retiree? Would you know the details, requirements & websites related to this? Thanks!!

  1. Many US Americans work as civilians in the US Army. They buy homes and sometimes stay here for 12-15 years. In this case immigration laws don't apply.

    But also civil Americans choose to live here. They must of course follow the rules. Why don't you just contact your nearest German Embassy, they will provide you with all the information.

  3. If you are a citizen of the European Union, you need no special permits, you can do it right away.

  4. Yes you can do it if you fullfill some requirementes as for example:

    - You must prove  that you can support your self ( as alien you are not supposed to become  a burden für the welfare)-

    - According to the inmigration law, you are supposed to prove that you have enough knowledge of the german language, so that you can deal without problems with daily life ( go shopping, authorities etc.)
