  1. Get something that you like in the mid-range.

  2. there is really only one way to find out. you can always ask somehting like...do you mind if i order this steak, trust me they wont be offended.  if it for a celbration celebrating, it is usually safe to say that anything on the menu goes. also, it could depend on where you go.  if you go to a steak house or other fancy resteraunt, you probably dont need to worry about price.  but if you go to a family resteraunt, maybe you shouldn tget the most expensive items.  but it can never hurt to ask

  3. I usually do what Brittany suggested and take a cue from the person paying.  If they order lobster and steak then by all means order the same thing.

  4. try to see what they are ordering then pick something out the same price

  5. take advantage of the situation...

order the most expensive thing on the menu and loads of side orders, starter, desserts, expensive wine the lot.

if its a polite dinner nobody will want to spoil the occasion by saying anything. then, when it looks like its bill time  - its off to the toilets for 10 mins untill its all sorted.

you could always lie and tell them that you 'used to be anorexic' and they will actually be pleased you ate it all - suckers!!!

  6. well, if trying to be polite, you shouldn't order anything more expensive than the person that is paying for your meal. while looking at the menu, just say something along the lines of "oh, what are you going to get?" and then when they answer, just look on the menu, find the price of that item, and then order something that cost equal or lesser value. hope that helps. :)
