I have already convinced my family members and friends to use fluorescent lights, use cold-water cycles for laundry machines, and take carpools more often. Although those are small steps, I'm still unsure about the weightiness of these actions. I want to be more involved in helping fight off desertification, rising water level, carbon emission, and others attributed to global warming. As a high school student, what can I do to help our planet? What should I get involved in? Where should I start?

  2. ask the school border to have a class that shows people how to conserve the planet. you know promote recycling use hybrids and start planting trees. even a high school student can make a difference.

  3. Buy a diesel car and burn biodiesel in it. It's the cleanest fuel there is.

  4. What you can do: Learn about these issues and then educate others.

Get politically active. Start locally. I don't know how it is where you live, but in many places people are forced to drive because walking, cycling, and public transit are not viable. You can lobby for things like cycling/walking paths.

Do some googling to evaluate the real state of the science on climate change. You might start with the UN: http://www.un.org/climatechange/ipcc.sht... .
