  1. Yes, as a Muslim, I do believe in psychology. Just because someone acts "strange", it does not necessarily mean that they are possessed or what not. Any logical person understands that there is not only one cause, possession, of all craziness, irritability and mental conditions. And yes, I did consider majoring in psychology. But I decided to major in biochem so I would have my requirements done to apply to dental school.

  2. I used to want to be a psychologist. I do believe that the mind can be studied scientifically. Allah (swt) has told us in the Qur'an that creation is made in a particular fashion. There are laws and these laws make science possible. As for psychological theories, there are so many of them and more theories are always being formed. You really have to look at each on its own.

    salaam

  3. No I don't because psychology would say my extremists are not religious zealots but instead deluded unstable brainwashed victims of misinterpreting a peaceful Quran for destructive purposes.

  4. Islam taught us to educate our selves and to understand problems and suitions and divert from the ignorant path. Islam taught us to have logic

and have literate answers to problems and not just believe on what we think is right.

for example, in the holy month of Ramadan, there are people who still lie, cheat, steal, betray, backstab and do other greater nasty stuff and its that time when Allah has clearly said that he has binded Shaytaan behind bars and will not release him untill the end of the month. So.... is it still shaytaan or a man's own thinking and feeling?

Psychology, like all studies....  is a study of human behavior and Islam is a religion of peace and kindness in human behaviour

and its up to us to keep learning and getting better as human beings and muslims.

  5. I am muslim I do believe in psychology. However, I do not believe that psychology is perfect and each and every human phenomenon can be explained by psychology.

  6. as a muslim yes i do. but i don't want to be a psychologist. hehe

  7. yes, as a muslim i believe in psychology, but also in religion things

pyschology isn't about mental disorders, but it is about anything that goes on in our lives

it is between husband and wife, paretents and teens, bosses and employees, sport performances .. phobias

i never considered being a psychologists, but lately i started to become more interested to learn about it .. more and more ..

actually, i am reading now, three different books all gotta good part of psychology in them, it is self help, about parenting, self indiviuals, relationships .. but very interesting concepts .. and they all very true

  8. Yes we do but not Freud way

  9. Your question is a misnomer - DO YOU BELIEVE in psychology!

Belief is reserved for religion - ie no evidence, no proof, just doing what you are told, not questioning - in other words IRRATIONAL.

Psychology on the other hand is a science - it is based on facts, can be proven, is there to be questioned and disproved, and completely rational.

So, you can't believe in science because it is based on evidence (rational) but you can believe in islam because it is not based on evidence (irrational).

    Your question should read:

IN LIGHT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EVIDENCE, DO YOU AS A MUSLIM BELIEVE IN SATAN ETC CAUSING PSYCHOLOGICAL ILLNESSES?

As for what Happy said above: "I am muslim I do believe in psychology. However, I do not believe that psychology is perfect and each and every human phenomenon can be explained by psychology."

You just proved my point. Science changes with time. Yes there are questions we can't answer now, but science is a 'work in progress'. It will find answers. Religion on the other hand is old and outdated and fails to evolve!

  12. its not a belief or anything. they are just theories and assumptions based on symptoms. but many are easy to observe such as body language and stuff like that. your behavior, personality, activities, decisions could be studied by psychology

    and no i wouldn't consider becoming a psychologist :)

  13. i report you all muhahahaa
