  1. Interviews are basically repetitious. The tests are consistently the same. Normally, friends of current workers, people changing crafts, etc. get hired before others. Depending on the craft you choose training could be formal or on the job training. Most of the time training is formal. Wages also depend on the craft. The railroad is not conducive to family life i.e on-call 24/7, long working hours, weird shifts, working weekends and nights, etc. On the other hand, the long-term benefits are excellent. 30+ years required for a full 100% retirement benefits.   3. Go to www.railroad.net, visit the Employment Forum, and do a little searching within the forum and you will find alot of answers.  Good luck, depending on where you are located, this is a tough time to get on and work for CSX.
