  1. The paperwork you have copies of, the administrators you know how good or not good they are - the biggest variable is "THE PARENTS".

Many will be jaded from not so good experiences, many have evolved into Pit Bulls for there children, some want you to 'fix' their child, many think that "if we can only find the key, our child will be normal", some just want their kid out of their hair for a chunk of the day.

That is always the biggest variable.  You need to listen to them and their concerns and demonstrate the willingness to work as a team with them.  Together their child can accomplish so much more.

  2. --meeting the IEP goals given the materials and funding available

    --having enough qualified support staff

    --scheduling!!

  3. I think it would be finding the right teaching tools and methods to fit the needs and learning styles of each student.  Students in special ed usually cannot learn in the same way as the student in the regular classroom.  Trying to stay within the goals of the IEP and find success for the student would be a big concern also.

  4. Having an admin. who advocates special ed and the students.  Without back up, your job can be nigh impossible.  You'll be on your own.

  5. behavior--not just in special ed classes--but with all students--is tehbiggest challenge

you need to establish a good behaviorla atmosphere from day 1

  6. I would like to know the pupils' profiles, their learning diabilities and how to cope with them in class especially during a crisis situation.
