What is the purpose of ticking 'interesting'

And I've only just noticed there are thumb up and thumb down signs. What are they for? (sorry if this is a thick question!)

  1. When you click on "interesting," it gives the poster a star.  This has 2 purposes: 1) It illustrates that you find the question interesting (obvious, no?) and 2) it tells your contacts that you found a question interesting, indicating they might want to read the question as well.  Thumbs up add points to a Best Answer and indicate that you like the answer.  Thumbs down do not subtract points, but indicate that you find the answer less than satisfactory.  I don't give thumbs down.

  2. If your a top contributor why are you asking simple questions, are you trying to make the rest of us look stupid?

  3. Interesting=you thought it was interesting or you know someone who may fine it interesting it lites up the star to call attention to the question ! And thumbs up and down is how you can rate a question if you would like just go to the profile page and somewhere in their i think you will find the rules and it will answer your questions or just ask where to find what ever you want and somebody will probably answer.Good Luck Hope this helps!
