As a sabres fan...?

i dont want tyler myers to be like chara. I feel that he is over rated. but from what iv seen myers seems to be a much better skater.

to make this a question is it ok to be a 6'7" defenseman and not hit?

Chara is not overrated. I do not like Chara, but he is still a great D-man. He was nominated for the Norris trophy for pete's sake!

If you are a 6'7" d-man..............you better be hitting. Use yer size! Hit 'em!

Chara is not overrated hes a not bad D man but gets way to dirty and his slap shot is his best friend and thats what gets him 7 million a year

crappy D man but good shot

Myers has the total pachage huge good puck moving D man who has a good shot and good looks to make passes

i would rather have myers

No, that is never ok to be a blueliner and not hit.  I mean, its like being a goalie and not blocking shots

i would love it if the sabres got a guy just like chara thats what they need a defence......no if he does not hit buffalo will call him a bust and the nxt mike wilson

He's gonna have to use his size when needed, even if that isnt his trick. But seriously, Buffalo is a pretty small team and a big D-man can't hurt. I don't think Kalinan was a big loss as far as defense, and I am understandign that whoever else up there agreed is saying he AND Spacek are getting up in years? I don't know if I agree with that, but Spacek's heath is becoming a major issue.

At 6'7", he better learn how to hit.  If he needs help in learning, then the Sabres should get Brooks Orpik in free agency to teach him.

Yes it is very strange to be a 6'7 defenseman and not hit... not many players can say they have the height advantage, so if your that tall you better be slamming players into the boards... A player of that height with a physical presence can add to the value of the defenseman...ie. Chris Pronger
