  1. I am a single parent and do suffer from loneliness. I spend a lot with my children, family and friends. I have started working all the time.  That is what i do to get over being lonely.

  2. Hi I am a single mom as well and I think that at some point you will be lonely! I found that keeping yourself busy works best. RIght now I work which helps to keep me busy I also love reading books. My daughter is a cheerleader now so going to practice with her helps a lot because we are in public around so many other parents. Join forums online I joined babyfit.com back in 05 its great and its for females only you should check it out its great!

  3. I deal with it by giving my time to my kids and community by coaching my kids sports teams, football, baseball, softball, and I have even become PTA president for the school.

  4. Hi Claire,

I have been a single mum for 3 years, and the best way for me to cobat loneliness, is to go online and chat to people. Even being on YA! helps me to realise that i'm not alone, and that stops me from banging my head on the same 4 walls every evening!

  5. I've been a single parent and am currently a military wife so it seems like I am alone most of the time. I definitely feel down sometimes but make some time for yourself, go out to lunch/dinner with a friend or just go take a bubble bath. Divert your attention to other things, find a hobby, read a good book, do more projects with you child. Reassure yourself. I've found the more bored I am the more time I have to think about how there is no one here for me to talk to (except my 2yo but you can only discuss so many things with the kids). Most importantly remember, you aren't alone. If you are feeling REALLY down, talk to a counselor. Just venting to someone can help.

  6. I deal with it by keeping busy---I am going back to school. It keeps me very busy with schoolwork and I have not much time left to dwell on the loneliness. Good luck.
