  1. I think you misunderstand the nature of the "Schengen" arrangements.  This treaty allows anyone who has legally entered a Schengen country to move freely to another Schengen  country without additional papers.  So if You get a visa for France you can use it to visit Italy, Germany, Sweden, etc but only when crossing a common border - it does not include aircraft flights automatically.  Not all EU members are in this arrangement - the UK is a notable example of that.

As a Romanian your husband is not under this Treaty but is allowed to move freely between his home country and the other new entrants and the Schengen countries plus Norway and Iceland under the Treaty of Amsterdam rules.  It does not cover travel from India.

As your husband's wife you are entitles to travel with him to any European country for the usual short term reasons but you will need a visa which should fall into the Schengen arrangements if issued by France.  You must ask at the embassy or consulate you use when applying.  Good luck!

  2. it would have been best if you had romanian citizenship - do you? if you are a romanian citizen, no visa needed, just a plane ticket. but, if not, the french will see you as indian... period. and visa takes time. good luck, tho!

  3. no, it is not true, being married to a Roumanian does not make it easier for you to get a schengen visa,

here is what the consulate of France says about requirements:

Compulsory documents, for a SHORT STAY VISA (up to 90 days):

one application form, completed and signed

    two photographs

    confirmed return air ticket

overseas medical insurance (including medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation amounting to a minimum of 30000 Euros or equivalent)

    IMPORTANT

    Please note that

THE PASSPORT MUST BE VALID FOR THE DURATION OF THE STAY

THERE MUST BE A FULL BLANK PAGE ON THE PASSPORT TO AFFIX THE VISA. VISA IS NOT STAMPED ON ADDITIONAL PAGES OF THE PASSPORT.

NO VISA WILL BE DELIVERED ON ADDITIONAL PAGES

CHILDREN MUST TRAVEL WITH THEIR OWN PASSPORTS

VISAS ARE GENERALLY ISSUED AFTER TWO WORKING DAYS

THE VISA IS DELIVERED BY THE TERRITORIALY COMPETENT CONSULATE

Additional documents (to be presented depending on the purpose of the travel)

For Family Visit, Private Visit, Tourist Visa (you can apply for a visa for 30 days, 90 days or for a transit visa):

covering letter / leave letter from company or self

confirmed hotel reservation or attestation d’ accueil delivered by the French Mairie (town hall) of your host

foreign exchange, credit card, travellers cheques

Applicant’s financial status (last 3 months’ salary slips or last 3 years’ income tax papers of Form 16A).
