  1. All of my lesson are preplanned with the help of teachers manuals... It is my job to decide supplementals and homework I would like to add...

I have been unprepared at times- I always keep extra worksheets that I can use in case I am not prepared... I aslo have the kids do silent reading while I gather supplie to switch to the next subject...

  2. generally most lessons are planned by you but there are so many resources to help you and even do it for you! i have had times when i'm not prepared, when i've had to cover etc... It's a great idea to always have a simple but fun game to play or a puzzle to complete for emergencies. Are you thinking of entering the profession? Good luck!

  3. yes, you have to plan everything.

Districts often try to give you pre-canned curriculum. It never works. There is no one who knows my students strengths and needs more than I (other than their parents I should add)

What you will find is that lessons *never* go exaclty as planned - but if you know the scope and sequence of the material - and the specific reasons for teaching things in a certain order - then you really cant be thrown off.

This is why we teachers have to plan so much.

  4. I am a relatively new teacher in adult education, and plan everything myself. I do everything in my power to make sure I am always prepared. I take extension activities in case we have time left over, and I make sure the activities I plan can be adapted for different numbers of students.

I always write down my lesson plans, as I am not always told when I am going to be observed. So I need to always be prepared for an observation.

If you are really stuck, you have to think on your feet, make something up, then evaluate to show you have reflected on it and learnt from it.

  5. Im a homeshcool mom, & I alwasy plan everything my son learns. I cant think of a time I havnt ben prepaired, because I wouldnt know what to teach him, without planning lessons for the day.

Were in a state that we can pick & chose what they learn. I alwasy pick & chose the text books too. And I find alot of free stuff off the web too.

  6. As you teach and get used to it, it becomes easier. Many textbooks will guide you when you are starting out. You sometimes also have to go with the flow too.  You do have to plan and be ready for just about anything. :O)

  7. yes, I have to plan the lessons.

The times I am not prepared I just get the kids together

and have a great time singing or getting them involved in

    some kind of activity.

  8. in a word no. have been teaching for six years. after a while you get so used to teaching the same thing over that it's like learning a script.

i always prep - but not always to the same level depending on who i'm teaching.

at the start i used to write a plan for every lesson - not a detailed one but just a rough outline. i always plan in detail when i'm being observed. planning doesn't always have to be on paper, goin through a lesson in your head and making sure that you have every thing u need for the lesson is usual practice.

i wouldn't start off without planning though. wait until ur more experienced.

when u go into a lesson totally unprepared it normally doesn't go well and you will find ur self floating from one thing to another with no structure - kids pick up on this and some will shoot u down.

  9. Oftentimes the teachers guide will have lessons plans you can use.  There were times I wasn't prepared, for sure, but thats what happens in your first couple years teaching.
