  1. Several Americans, and other foreign nationals, have been knighted, but they are not permitted to use the title 'Sir'. For example, Caspar Weinberger, Ronald Reagan, and Bob Geldoff. You must be a citizen of the British Commonwealth of Nations to use the title.

  2. they can have Honoury Kinghthoods, just like Stephen Speilberg

  3. You can only have an honorary Knighthood, several Americans have been given them including Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Rudy Gulianin and another soldier General Norman Schwarzkopf ("Stormin' Norman")

  4. Arise sir.

Your wish for Knighthood is nigh...neigh....nooo!

  5. you usually have to be a British citizen to be knighted as its one of our traditions, there are exceptions usually famous rich or powerful people, living in Germany (ex osnabruck myself) doesn't give you any extra ties to it either, just concentrate on being a Congressional medal of Honor winner mucker.

  6. No, but if you have an agreement to the contrary then go with it, but the queens you meet in the bar are not real royalty... no matter what they promise you,

  7. Only an honoury Knighthood. Why the h**l do you want one people will think you are rich and charge you more?

  8. Americans can receive a British knighthood. Ronald Reagan did. But the US does not allow them to use the title.

  9. Why on earth would the British sovereign waste a medal on an american agent?

  10. No. Americans can't be Knighted.

You can recieve other Honours from the Queen though.

  11. I am afraid not, as only British Citizens or Ex-pat Britons can recieve Knighthoods, however you may recieve other Honours such as Bono did for his work in Africa, he wasnt aloud to be Knighted because he is from the Republic of Ireland.

  12. You could receive an honorary knighthood if you do something exceptional, and some sort of connection with Britain (if you're thinking of a British knighthood) would help a lot.

Other countries are a possibility - the King of Spain knighted Miles Davis - but you need to work harder than citizens of the country granting the honour to earn it.

  13. I thought only th UK gives knighthoods

  14. It is possible for anyone who isn't British to be knighted but you are unable to have the title "Sir" before your name if you aren't a native of our sceptred isles. Instead you are a "Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" or "K.B.E" which you can have at the end of your name.

  15. You lot blew that pleasure when you threw our tea into the Boston Harbour

  16. Rather than knighting foreigners (I think England is the primary country that does that), you are appointed a "Commander of the British Empire" designation.

Rudy Giuliani, for example, was bestowed that honor.

  17. In your dreams perhaps. Knighthoods for foreigners are extremely rare and even then the title of Sir is not permitted.

    Don't hold your breath.

  18. It is possible for a non UK citizen to be knighted and several have been but they are not entitled to use the designation "Sir......."
