As a us permanent resident what documents do i need to get into Mexico?

I was born in Mexico and was wondering do I need a passaport to re-enter the USA or can I go with my resident card and birth certificate?

  1. You will need your resident card, birth certificate, photo i.d. for sure.  You should also still have your Mexican passport. If you are trvelling by land  a passport will not be required until as soon as Jan. 2008.  But if you are flying, you will not be allowed on the international flight without your passport.  You must keep your Mexican passport current until you become a U.S. citizen ( if that is your plan), since you will not be able to get a U.S. passport until then.


  2. We just came back from vacationing in Cancun, flew by AA lines. One of us wasn't an US citizen yet, but carries the resident card. Upon check-in, passport was required inorder to board the plane. As long as you have valid passport with your resident card, you're good to go.
