We were stationed in Rota from 1997-2001 and I will be going back to visit and wondered if they changed what was required to enter the base. Back then you needed both a US military ID as well as a Spanish ID or orders. Just wondered if they SOFA agreement might have changed to allow ID holders to enter the base, exchange and commissary.

  1. I just got back from Rota about a month and a 1/2 ago. The only thing you need is your military ID and your orders. And then you can get on base to go get a spanish ID, but if you leave the base and go out in town you need a spanish ID to get back on the base.
