Question:

As an American, how can I gain citizenship in the UK?

I'm an American, but I like the UK more than my country, so I want to move there, probably after college. How would I get citizenship there; would I be able to if I wanted to practice law? Eventually, would I be able to receive all the same benefits a citizen has? Would I still be able to keep my US citizenship? I plan on marrying someone from the UK, so how does that affect it?

  1. I'm not sure what the rules are about gaining UK citizenship.  However, if you move to or are already living in UK, it should not be that difficult.

Only one point to bear in mind, anyone who knows the second line of the British National Anthem, does not get to become a citizen of UK.

Just thought you should know that.  Also, do please try to be forgetful and not know anything.  People just don't like a know-all, if you see what I mean.

  2. By going and living there!

  3. Well by the looks of it we don't have any rules as far as immigrants are concerned. The country is over-run and things are getting critical. As an American you probably wouldn't have very much trouble. Both countries are strong Allies and the UK is easier to emigrate to than America is for us. Check with the UK embassy they should be able to help.

Let us know where you are going to practice law please. I for one dont want to be represented by someone who would leave all that to come to a small, cold, poor, overtaxed, wet, politically correct ruined country like ours.

P.S. if you come here can I go there? Like a swap lifestyle change thing. I've always fancied Colorado for the fishing.

    P.P.S. HELLO JACK.

  5. If you can prove to them ancestry, I think through grandparents or your great grandparents.. You can do it that way.

  6. Go to UK legally and stay there for at least eighteen months uninterruptedly and continuously. If you don't have any criminal record in the mean time in the UK , you can apply for citizenship in that country by surrendering your passport . you may consult a Lawyer for legal  help. That will be fine for you .....everyone does so.

I love my country to bits, and still remember all the things that made Great Britain - Great.

Sadly this little island is going to the dogs though - the politicians are slowly ruining our day to day lifes, and the yobs are wrecking our housing/personnel lifes.
