I found myself watching "South Sydney Story". Its a reality show on U.S. TV. I was watching it over MLB playoffs. It was quite the interesting story and you have to love the blue collar workers mentality. Any of you follow this team? Also do they show this show outside of the States?

  1. Yeah, of course they showed it in Australia, everyone knows the story in Sydney cause we all watched it unfold and it was in the news heaps because Souths are such an important team in the history of football. I'm not a fan but everyone has a soft spot for south sydney and hope they go well. They have bought heaps of good talent but like they say, a champion team will always beat a team of champions.

Football has gone through heaps of changes in this country in the last decade when every team had to become a financially viable business. Many teams merged which meant they were 3/4 one team and 1/4 another - it was a wierd time.

Imagine a Seattle team merging with an LA team, no one likes it but if it has to happen then as a fan you make it work. The thing with SOuth Sydney is they refused to do this and keep their own unique identity, this is another reason why everyone has a soft spot for them.

  2. I thought it was quite an interesting show, as much as I hate South Sydney! I think Russell and Peter have done a good job.

I wasn't impressed when it finished with a line saying they lost, and didn't even mention that it was Manly that beat them! Have I spoiled it - you've seen the end right? They don't win the grandfinal, its not that kind of fairytale!

  3. good choice. Follow real football, gridiron is an insult to that term.
