As an MMA fan, I am so disapointed.?

Question

MMA makes its primetime main stream debut with Elite XC. And it is headlined by a guy with 2 profesional MMA fights. This fight was a crock. How is the ref going to stop the fight in the third round while both fighters are on their feet, and not stop the fight in the second round while Thompson was pounding Kimbos head like like a peace of meat for a full min without Kimbo even trying to defend himself.

This is not what MMA is all about. The both of these fighters are jokes and wouldn't last a round against lower level Heavyweights in the UFC. They both were out of shape and had no conditioning or strategy. Robby Lawler should have been the main event because he is a real fighter.

With girls shaking their azzes in between fights, this made MMA look like the joke that so many think it is already. And it didn't help that it was headlined by a guy known for his street fights yet Shamrock said at the beginning of the program “You won’t find them fighting in the streets." Agreed?

I watched the fight last night and it was my first exposure to MMA.  I'd never heard of either man before, but it sure looked like Thompson didn't know what planet he was on there at the end.

Yes agreed.  Between the multiple fighter introductions, the first 60 minutes of show with only 2 minutes of fights, the horrible broadcasters, and the early stoppages (and non-stoppages).  This broadcast was a disaster.  There's no excuse for any company to produce something this bad, especially when it's a major network like CBS.  

     For the new audiences who saw mma for the first time on this show, regardless if they knew they were watching sub-par fighters for the most part or not.  They certainly saw badly produced television.  Which will probably leave them with a negative attitude towards MMA in general thanks to CBS.

actually the kimbo fight was a good stoppage becuase thompson was getting destroyed after kimbo busted his ear he hit 5 clean shots and a couple more and thompson might not have gotten up. smith lawler was a bs stoppage and i can't wait for the rematch.  CARANO KICKED ASSSSSSSS

disappointed I was embareced the card was a joke to be on net work TV the womens fight was the best fight of the night and the robbie lawler fight was good but the rest was joke

They put Kimbo out there because his name is recognized for his internet fights and they figured hed draw a large num, of viewers out of curiosity if nothing else.  Im a little pissed over the ref stoppage too but Thompson can only blame himself for not securing the win in round two.  He may have been hitting kimbo with some elbows from the mount but he was throwing them like a little *****.  Ive seen little girls playing patty cake hitting harder tan he was....

the fight was rigged, kimbo tapped on the first round to that guillotine and should've been tko'd at the 2nd round... i think elite xc just cant let their new big star lose on his 3rd fight haha... especially when they bring in a guy with a record of 16-8 that nobodys heard of. and like you mentioned...premature stoppage, that ref should've gotten a punch rather than a slap by that thompson guy!

You should be disapointed. Yamma Pit fighting put on a better show. But you have to look at the talent that EliteXC had to work with.  If Nick Diaz could have headlined, this show might have gone somewhere. The commentators were terrible, and all the pre fight glamour was a reach. Fortunately, they have nowhere to go but up. Let's hope for Diaz or even Cung Le to be the main event next time.
