I mean probably the best tennis player ever has made $42 million after dominating the sport for 5 years like never before or about $8 million /year. There was only one Roger in the entire planet. Then there are college football coaches like Nick Saban making $4.5 million/year and top basketball, baseball, football players making over $20 million/year even though they are team sports and they are not the only reason their teams are winning. Tiger Woods made $115 million last year alone!! I guess you need to be big in America to make big money in general (see Sharapova, Agassi in tennis). Thoughts?

  1. well not really look at the footballers in the UK

  2. If you become a top player in your sport in the US or anywhere else, you'll most likely make more money in endorsements than actually playing. Unfortunately you'll have to keep playing to maintain your top player status. Tennis is a tough sport to make a lot of money in.

Unless you're one of the top players, it's really not going to make you megabucks. There are plenty of players on the pro circuit that make a very meager living. There's lots of traveling and coaching expenses to keep up with while playing as a pro and not much money if you don't make it deep into a draw.

America is the biggest advertising market in the world but the biggest sport in the world is soccer and some of the top soccer players are making a lot of money.
