  1. Yes, my wifes mother.

She had a bad fall there on some grease that someone had carelessly left at a staff entrance and severely injured her leg.  She sought compensation and all Coral Island said was sue me but at the time they couldn't get legal aid.  She's now 62 at the time she was 53 and has never been able to work since and never got a penny out of them.

    Nice place eh!

btw Mick W Basil Newby through a company called ITP Leisure owns Funnygirls and Flying Handbag. The Nobles own Coral island but they haven't set foot in Blackpool for 20 years and keep blocking Blackpool's regeneration plans because it's against their business interests.

    From the Guardian 5/8/07

"A notable horror is Coral Island, 'Europe's biggest amusement arcade', which is owned by the Noble Organisation - the only big concern in Blackpool that did not support the casino bid. (The wealthy Noble brothers, whose company also owns Brighton's West Pier, are notoriously media-shy, so I could not ask them personally why not.)

This gambling shed, which attracts four million people a year, is the first stop for documentary crews who want to play up Blackpool's seedy side. It was refitted in 1999, but it is still horrible: a six-foot pirate skull marks the spot. Inside, you can literally watch money being sucked out of the town and into slot machines. The super-casino, though it would have had thousands of slot machines itself, would at least have led to real investment in the town: jobs, hotel rooms. Coral Island, it is widely agreed, gives Blackpool little other than an indication of the direction it will be headed the more economically vulnerable it becomes."

  2. Your best bet for tracking down former employees would be to look at Friends Reunited (http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk/signedi...

There is currently listed: Kelly, Linda, Sarah, Paul, Diane, Zina, Angel (I've left off surnames for privacy).

Sounds like you have a few tales to tell!

  3. I've heard some funny tales about the funny girls club, and the flying handbag club, is it owned by the same people.
