As contract winds down, Josh Hamilton wishes to remain with Texas Rangers – MLB News
Inextricably linked with any contract between the player and the club there is always an element of uncertainty. However, the Texas Rangers’ outfielder Josh Hamilton believes the long-term contract stands intact. Hamilton is currently in the last year of
his contact with the Texas Rangers.
The outfielder is, beyond any shadow of a doubt, considered the backbone of the team. However, there were some questions pertaining to the fate of this contract. While it is known that he will make $13.75 million this year, what remains unknown is whether
he will be staying with the team for the entire season.
Nonetheless, when the same query was put to the outfielder, he struck a positive note, saying he is focused on this year and wants to be ready.
What the Texas Rangers will keep in mind, for sure, is the fact that they qualified for the World Series finals for two consecutive years but were unable to win. In 2010 it was the San Francisco Giants which beat the team, the past season it was the St.
Louis Cardinals that carried the day with their impressive performance.
"I'm focused on this year and doing everything I need to do to get ready," Hamilton said. "We've been to the World Series twice and as close as we've gotten, let's make the team as good as it can be so we can get that last out."´
A lot has to be seen when the new season kicks off. Nonetheless, for now, for Hamilton, it is staying with the team that is important.
"I could sign for two years or 10 years and the same thoughts and questions are going to be asked," Hamilton said.
In the past season, Josh Hamilton appeared in 121 games, remaining at 487 at-bats. The outfielder scored no less than 80 runs, having had 145 hits with a wonderful average of .298 and 94 RBIs.
The player remained eighth in the American League with a .536 SLG. While the deal may have its uncertainty, Hamilton will form an important component of the team which the Rangers do not want to risk losing.
