  1. Egypt ---December 25

  2. Sumerians & Egyptians had some concept of God/Gods, by about 6000 years ago, followed by the Semitic Adam/Eve Legend, ca. 3500 BCE...

  3. Zoroastrianiam

  4. It isn't text but it is believed that Europe's cave paintings were created for religious reasons making them as old or older than the Venus figures. I have also read recently about a rather large primitive snake statue in a cave in Africa that would be the oldest evidence of religion.  You might find the website SacredText. com interesting. See their world religions section, there are some time lines.

  5. as far as i know the first written texts were produced by the sumerians about 2900 BCE. their whole society was based on their religious beliefs and it was central the whole civilisation. hinduism didn't really exist until after the invasion of indian by the indo-iranian aryans about 1500 BCE. the fusion of the aryan pantheon and the indigenous religions produced hinduism and the oldest continuously used religious text the rig veda. zorastrianism came into being about the same time but left no contemporary text.

egypt came into being at, more or less, the same time as sumeria and their society was also very centred on religion and their early picture texts also refer to their gods. as far as i know the hebrews didn't become a separate people until round 1200 BCE, before that they seem to have been just rural canaanites who lived in the highlands. older canaanite texts refer to the father of their pantheon as El and the gods as Elohim, the same as the hebrews called their god. the bible as we know it does not seem to have been written down and compiled from the various versions before the 7th century BCE in Jerusalem on the orders of the king of judah, josiah.

here is the best text i could find on a site you didn't have to pay for.

  6. You put "God" in quotation marks, meaning any god belief I think.

So I'm putting the words "ancient text" in quotation marks, since it is not the written word, nor text as we think of it.

It goes back to prehistoric people...the Venus figures.  The little figures carved from bone, ivory, and stone, of little fat and/or pregnant women with huge b*****s, huge buttocks, and usually tiny heads.

There are no figures of the males, with enlarged male members.  Only the female figure with all her baby producing parts enlarged.  That means fine fat buttocks and thighs to carry the pregnancy through periods of starvation.

They worshiped the female body which could put on fat, and carry pregnancies even in those harsh times.

Type in Venus figures to a google search if you are interested.
