As gasoline prices are rising, who is truely making all the revenue? I hear that its not the owner of the gas stations (Mom and Pop small shops, or franchise gas owner of a Cheveron, etc..), and I hear that the Energy companies are not making an extra dime, (Chevron, ExxonMobile, 76, BP, etc..) from these rising prices. I hear that they have to break even in terms of how they price their gas prices in terms of area. (Like San Francisco and a small town area like Billings, Montana).

Where is all this extra money going too?? Can someone explain?? Are these Corporate Top Exec (CEO, CFO, VP's, etc..) taking home a fat check every month or so?

  1. the oil companies make more profits but they are not the reason that oil prices are rising.  They take out a certain percentage profit like EVERY other company in this country.   The percent profits they make is average compared to other industries.

    The real reasons:

OPEC has tons of oil and they are making oil prices rise.

We could drill our own oil in Alaska and off the coast.  Many do not want to do that.  This would push the supply up and drive prices down.  There are vast amounts of untapped oil reserves that, for certain reasons, we don't tap into.

We don't have many other alternatives that work as good as oil.  Solar, geothermal, bio, might develop in the future but they might not.  There is no guarantee that we will develop them.  We might as well try.

  2. President Bush is making the money.  He has lots of stocks in gas companies.  He is using America to get rich and he doesn't care who he is hurting.  Thanks, BUsh, for sending us to Iraq....sorry I really don't like him.

  3. Record profits for the oil cartels. "Nuff said.

  4. You hear wrong. The energy companies are cleaning up.

  5. OPEC, which is a cartel made up of many of the major gas producing countries.  They get paid twice as much for a barrel of oil than they did just a few years ago with no extra investment.

  6. I really think it is the Oil companies; especially the top brass; and all the speculators who bet on which way the market is going.

The gas station attendants get all the flack for something they have no control over.

  7. The big gas companies are making record breaking profits.  They are making a lot of money on the backs of the American people.  I suspect the Saudi family and other oil producing countries are also getting their fair share.  But ExxonMobile and the rest are syphoning off the most.

  8. the gov

  9. Most of the money is going to the oil producing countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAR, Nigeria, and Venezuala.

The cost of their oil is between $10 and $20 a barrel they sell for $130

The US Oil companies such as Exxon make about a 9% margin.  So they make a bit more than before.  Any profts go to the millions of shareholders like you and me thru their 401K or IRA.

Most gas stations are now owned by corporations.  Their profits have been good the last few years.

By far the oil producing nations are benefitting the most.

  10. the gas refineries are making all the money and the gov gives them a lot of tax relief and they still jack up the price so they are making bank right now while we all suffer

  11. You've probably heard the ad for this on the radio. Now check it out for yourself and see who's causing it!

At the same time ask yourself this.

With a President heavily invested in Oil (George Bush) what makes you think he would do anything to stop the cost of oil from going through the roof.

It's time to pick a President based on his investments!

  12. Well, it is whoever sells the gas stations oil. They probably are just feeding off the gas guzzling even though it is detremental to the environment.
