Question:

As good as he has been, Ben Sheets is actually having a sub par year by his own standards. Do you agree?

He lost again today. His record is 11-6 and his ERA is exactly 3.00. But if he would've been pitching like he had been pitching during a lot of his best seasons in the past, right now he would be like 15-1 (because he actually has an offense that can put runs on the board now) with a 2.50 ERA and he'd be leading the league in strikeouts. Sabathia is currently the best pitcher on that team. Hands down.

  1. I agree with Sheets because these are his own standards.  Tom Seaver used to remark that it didn't matter how well he pitched if the game was lost.  Sheets wants to win, simple as that, and as long as he does not dwell on his performance this is a good thing.  (Of course the Cubs have the burning desire, too, which is why they are on top right now.)

  2. I agree but only to a point that he is struggling and for that Struggle they will get better Next time or This bad streak will come to an end like the Brewers own 8 game win-Streak.

That may be over, but this must too.

  3. NO! he is having his best season victory wise and maybe his second best season over all.  Giving up about .75 less runs per game than his 8 season average. Win Loss record combined with all other stats make this his best season so far.

  4. He's having a pretty good year, not great. It's definitely not sub-par.

  5. Sheets biggest issues are his health and lack of consistency.  He has to be one of the most underachieving pitchers in MLB based on his ability.  A guy with his ability should have a career .650 winning percentage but he has been a slightly better than .500 pitcher for his career.  Don't tell me that it was due to not getting run support because the Brewers have had a good softball lineup for years now.

  6. His best season is only 12 wins...he has 11 now...
