Question:

As group moderator how can I send messages to only some members, excluding others?

In our group we have college graduate students and university professors. Sometimes the messages are of general interest, I don't have problem in this case because all subscribers receive the messages sent by the moderator; but some other times the message's content applies only to one sub-group.

Is there any way that I can temporarily exclude some members from receiving specific messages?

Thanks

  1. I don't think there's a way to send a message only to one sub-group within one Yahoo Group.  The only way to accomplish this would be to set up two Groups, one for the graduate students and the other for the professors.  Messages of general interest could still be sent to both Yahoo Groups if you divvied up the membership in this way.

  2. there is no way to do this except to use your own mail provider and privately e-mail the selected members. anything sent to any group will follow that groups setting, and post to the archives as well.

  3. Nope, you cannot divide yahoo groups into sub categories or sub members. You have to send the messages to private e-mail addresses. Add them to the TO / CC / BCC sections of the mail when composing one.
