  1. The Sun will go super nova and that's all she wrote.  No need to guess.

  2. God using a comet or The Sun turning into a red giant (also by God)

  3. over population..

    .. seriously

  4. Sun imploding will end the world

Virus will end the run of humans

  5. greed and intolerance

  6. we will.

    the evidence seems plain:

    the human race is

    it's own worse enemy

  7. Well I think...

    Hunger

    Lightning storms

    Massive Volcanic Eruption

    Massive Earthquake

    A huge Tsunami

    A deadly Plague

    An invasion of mosquitoes (Maybe)

    Or Continents will submerge suddenly

  8. Another decider like W

  9. humans themselves.dont blame the xternal forces for the destruction of mankind.human beings have that much potential, they can save themselves.that is wat we have been doing since ages.only devicing new means for better survival.against whom?asteroids?they have not fallen here for centuries.nuclear wars? man is responsible for it.global warming? again man is responsible for it.so its better we shud shift the cause of destruction from xternal to internal factors i.e. human beings.animals r not killing us.they have their own ways of survival.they live in a natural harmless manner.but humans r destroying their own species.

    we shud think about this.

  10. Asteroids.

Why are people saying the sun exploding? The sun isn't going to run out of hydrogen for another few billion years. And over population will not end humanity, it will just mean that the population will stop growing due to lots of people dying from lack of food. Then we may go back to 1800's style living without much technology.

  11. more and more diseases are forming due to the increasing number of people on the planet. i think that it will either be a new virus ( do some study on the black plague. it's a matter of time before history repeats. ) or a solar flare. the next best thing would have to be Yellow stone park going batsh!t. now go have some coffee and cheer up you morbid soul.

  12. The way I see it, there are three ways that could eventually destroy us:

1-Blow ourselves up by unleashing deadly nuclear bomb, fueled by a ridiculous war based on political greed & a thirst for power

2-All wiped out by a deadly virus much like the case of the black plague except much worse

3-Meteor shower/repeat of ice age/natural phenomenon possibly caused by global warming or just the way it happens in the universe

I personally hope that by the time any of this happens we humans will have come together as one, forgetting race, creed & gender boundaries, embracing compassion & love for all, become enlightened & moved beyond this physical life of suffering as we know it. :)

  13. I plan on switching the lights off when I die.

    Maybe another 20 years.

    Look forward to it.

  14. Well, I suspect barring a virus ala "12 monkeys", we'll probably experience all three and live to tell the tale.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish any of these things upon humanity but let's look at each.

Global Warming - it's not a problem "someday" it's happening now. Australians have been compelled to stop growing crops in what used to be their "wheat" belt because they don't have enough fresh water, Instead of them getting all "Mad Max" about it, it's proof that attitude is if not everything than at least very helpful, they have built desalinization plants left and right and have contests and prizes for families that can use the least water in a month/week whatever. They take (as well they should) national pride in their achievements. But as to a debate - it's over - because it's happening.

Asteroids - It's not just "very likely", it's inevitable that unless we do something to prevent it , the Earth will be hit by a significantly large asteroid. The Taurean asteroid which exploded over Tunguska is a good example. It even is suspected of being part of a meteor shower we pass through every spring. So it's possible that we will put a program together to move an asteroid to a safe orbit , Apophis is an asteroid which might provide incentive enough , but we are running out of time and there does not appear to be any awareness on the part of the pacific rim states (Western US, West Canada, Australia, Japan and China  would all be affected pretty severely). Apophis' impact would be somewhere about 2000 miles off the coast anywhere from South Alaska to Peru.

Nuclear War - Given the belligerent stance of various governments and the actions of radical islamic states with nuclear weapons it's likely we saw a slow-motion theater wide series of events. Where there might be an initial exchange based on military conflict but that "revenge" nuclear attacks would be largely towards civilian targets, An attack on NYC might cause a retaliation on Terhran or Karachi. A decapitation attack on Washington for instance might lead to a "dead-head" attack upon on Mecca, which in turn might cause an Islamist faction to attack Rome or London or Athens or Tel Aviv.

Its not the case that a full scale retaliation would be called , but rather a scaled, "proportional" attack. Such war scenarios - especially when using nuclear weapons are the only "survivable" option for use.

It's likely that after any or all of these conditions, we could become be a wiser species that we clearly are now as a result.

As far as the "end" of mankind, well, likely these three could combine - and if over a short-enough period of time, the global civilization could collapse.  In it's most severe form, effects of a global nuclear exchange or asteroid impact cause a global crop failure, within 60-90 days, 1/3 of all humans would be dead, children, the elderly and those unable to travel might be affected most severely. Disease would follow since general dislocation would already have overwhelmed the medical services of every country. While not everyone would be dead, a significant number would be, after a few billion souls were lost, I'm sure we'd take a much different perspective on things.

Even the best case scenario, such a collapse would mean that oil , the primary mover of goods, would become either unavailable or prohibitively expensive (a nuclear war in the ME would suffice). Intercontinental trade would be significantly impacted. Long distance air travel would become much more rare.

Re-localization would become important for growing of crops and labor production. The US and China for instance would retool to become in the US, a more manufacturing centered economy. and China would have to promote an internal consumer market and transition it's manufacturing away from export dependency.

Its very likely that the "end" of mankind might just come as a result of our inability / unwillingness to procreate. It's not that people won't have s*x, it's just that birthrates and such might become so low that the population fails to reach a rate of replacement. The population would become much smaller, and further natural disasters due changes due to global warming might lead to a situation where there are very few "civilized" people left, we would become not a planet of nation states, but rather a planet of refuges living on islands of what are today mountain-ranges and such.

A maximum sea-level rise would make this map look pretty happy by comparison

  15. global warming

  16. Science estimates that the average temperature of the earth will heat up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit within the next million years (up from about 70 degrees now)...

This means that water and vegetation will eventually dry up, and our landscape will begin to resemble that of the planet Mars...

By then, Man will be long gone...That is, unless we can escape the Earth and begin colonization experiments elsewhere in the Solar System!

  17. being hit by an asteroid big enough to end the world is unlikely. its like being hit by lightning twice. war is a definite possibility. every industrialized nation has the power to destroy a few cities in another country, then that country and all it's allies would strike back. then everyone gets into a nuclear world war. then we go into a new ice age. anyone that survives would be stuck in nuclear winter with cockroaches crawling all over them. if that doesnt happen, then definately global warming causes sea level to rise which causes people to move inland, which will cause overcrowding. then disease will kill everyone.

  18. Well if we knew that, we could stop it from happening lol.

Humans are very similar in DNA, much more than most species.  My guess is that a deadly plague will end up wiping us all out.

The end of the world is completely different from the end of man.  There will be life after we are gone - cockroaches can survive through pretty much anything.

  19. The end of man?     He's the cause of all our troubles - so the sooner the better I'd say.

As a result of empire building, killing and land-grabbing, violent military invasions, wasteful slaughter of wildlife and trees on land, and the polluting and overfishing of the oceans - all the while fighting and squabbling and breast-beating and polluting as they went. What's left to save?

Women have had more children than they wanted to raise, now they die every day in their millions, all over the globe, unfed, unpaid and homeless.

What will happen?  I'll tell you - we will die of suffocation from overcrowding.  Nowhere will there be anything left for men to steal, and nobody left for them to lie to.

  20. greed

  21. Nuclear war

  22. pollution of the environment and overpopulation - these will cause an ever increasing cycle of wars which will destroy the world very quickly.

  23. ignorance will end the human world

  24. Man
